Supporting the economic life and social vibrancy of the local villages abutting the Brynkinalt Estate is something the estate’s custodians have been pleased to do for generations. Most recently, we donated 13.5 acres of estate land adjacent to St Martins School in our local village of St Martins, near Oswestry, on a 999-year lease at zero rent. The land will be used for education and community recreation purposes and plans have already been submitted to Shropshire Council for a transformative state-of-the-art multi-use sports pitches. The facility, located next to the school, will benefit not only the school’s students but the wider community of St Martins.
The land gift is part of a community benefit scheme baked into the Morlas Meadows development of 80 homes of distinction on Brynkinalt Estate land. This significant parcel of land has been donated by the estate in addition to the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) in excess of £723k, which the Morlas Meadows scheme attracts.
We are genuinely delighted to continue the estate tradition of gifting assets to our local community. Previously these have included St Martins School on a 999-year lease, the land for the Community Centre in the village and the building for the GP Surgery in St Martins. We look forward to seeing the plans for first class sporting and recreational facilities taking shape over the coming months.
