Light Up Theatre Clwyd Gala Dinner & Auction

Theatre Clwyd is Wales’ largest producing theatre and delivers world-class productions and supports the next generation of artists but did you know that they are also recognised as a cultural leader for their work in the community ?

Studies show that involving young people in cultural activity can be the key that unlocks a lifelong relationship with the arts and all its associated benefits, including improved health and wellbeing, further education and social cohesion.

Despite this, research shows that young people’s engagement with the arts has been flat or decreasing over the past decade, and that those from lower socio-economic backgrounds are the most affected. As the primary arts provider in a predominately rural area, within half an hour of three of the most deprived areas in Wales (Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation, 2019) with higher-than-average populations of young people aged under 16, Theatre Clwyd aims to bridge this gap.

They run 21 bespoke creative engagement programmes, reaching c.50,000 people annually with workshops and projects covering creative disciplines such as theatre, music, visual art and dance. They encourage participants to find their voice and develop their creative potential while supporting mental and emotional well-being.  A large number of their programmes are cross-generational, helping with communities come together too.

The theatre is currently embarking on a major capital redevelopment which will safeguard the building for generations to come, ensuring the future of one of Wales’ biggest cultural assets.

We are delighted to be hosting the Theatre’s Gala Dinner and Auction here at Brynkinalt to help raise vital donations towards the redevelopment, with entertainment including Catrin Aaron (Little Voice) and Caitlyn Drake (Pavilion) and dinner overseen by Chef Dai Davies.
