Brynkinalt Estate The Hall

Brynkinalt Hall is a Grade II* listed building. The central portion of the present house was completed by Sir Edward Trevor in 1612.   The building, which was three storeys high, was constructed of brick, cut on site.   The Great Hall was once an open courtyard, and the coaches entered via an arch where the stairs are now situated.  This part of the house is contemporary with the front, and the buildings adjacent to the arch having been utilised as alehouses, bakeries and stables.

Extensive remodelling was carried out in 1808 to the design of Charlotte, Viscountess Dungannon, whose taste embellished the surrounding ground and park. The garden is a picturesque landscape park in a very fine setting, with Gothic features and an unusual tunnel to the kitchen garden.

Charles Edward and Charles Edwin, the 3rd and 4th Barons of Brynkinalt, worked ceaselessly to retain the family home, removing Victorian additions including the plaster rendering and restoring the house to its original brickwork.
